Canada Post employees have a long-standing tradition of giving back to the communities they serve. It comes as no surprise, therefore, that the mission of The Heritage Club contains a strong commitment to community involvement.Volunteers are always needed in every community. No matter what a member’s interest, there will be a matching need to be filled. Over the years, members have been doing just that by:
Children across Canada and around the world write more than one million letters to Santa each holiday season. This program helps to support the Corporation’s literacy commitment by encouraging children to write letters expressing their thoughts on the holiday season, as well as their “wish lists.” The program also promotes the correct addressing of mail and the use of postal codes.
Since 2006 the Heritage Club has increased their activities and Fred Danells is now the Heritage Club Co-ordinator.
People restricted to their homes, hospitals or nursing homes are visited by volunteers to help them write letters, address packages or just to spread good will and cheer.
