Postal Employees 25 Year Club<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

(A Council of the Terra Nova\nChapter Heritage Club)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minutes of meeting held at Royal Canadian Legion, on\nJanuary 29th<\/sup>, 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting came to order at 7:35 PM and the minutes\nof the previous meeting were adopted on a motion by Eric Penney and seconded by\nBob Thomson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gerry Angel – brother of\nAdrian:   Ed Barrington \u2013 father of Ted:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Holly Butt \u2013 wife of\nRandy:    Elizabeth Grace \u2013 mother of\nBrian Fleming<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A moment of silence was held\nin their honor, and our sincere condolences go out to all those concerned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

RETIREMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brian Cooney;   Keith Garland;  and John Handrigan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Congratulations and best\nwishes to all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TREASURER\u2019S\nREPORT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Treasurer Keough presented\nher report, which was adopted on a motion by Marge and seconded by Bill\nMarshall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NEW BUSINESS:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eric Howlett\nstated that the annual Volunteer Income Tax Seminar will be held on February 20th<\/sup>\n2020 at 10:30 am at the Legion. If you wish to attend this session please call Eric\nHowlett at 368-2692 or El Holmes at 753-4231.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

El Holmes stated\nthat due to the low turn-out for last year\u2019s Jiggs Dinner meeting we should\nconsider alternatives. Following some discussion, it was suggested to open that\nmeeting to spouses, and agreed that we would try that for March 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Howlett\nthanked those members who helped out with the Harvey\u2019s calendars. (see\nattached). Some discussion followed concerning difficulties with the delivery\nof the calendars etc. to the post office and other logistics. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

El Holmes stated\nhe will speak to Mr. Parsons about that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

El then thanked\nthose who helped to answer some 8500 Santa letters this year. He also stated\nthat the Club donated $3837.00 this year to five different charities from\nproceeds of the breakfasts we served in the lunchroom. The donations went to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Community Food Sharing Association                  $949.00<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CPC Community Foundation                      $985.00<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Gathering Place                                    $883.00<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Janeway Hospital Foundation                      $500.00<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jimmy Pratt Memorial Kitchen                    $520.00<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said the staff\nat the plant really appreciate and look forward to us coming in. He looks\nforward to the continued support of our members in 2020, and if you haven\u2019t been\ncalled but would like to take part, please let him know by calling 753-4231. It\u2019s a couple of hours of\nlight work and lots of socializing, all for a good cause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have received a\nbank money order for $10.00 from Mount Pearl with no name attached.  If you sent a money order to the Terra Nova\nChapter in late November but haven\u2019t received a receipt by now, please call El\nat 753-4231.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The winner of the\nPuffin picture draw is Shirley Hollett of Garden Cove.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Heritage Club\nsecretary Dave Roche stated he will, again this year, be looking for volunteers\nto help with serving a brunch at the Gathering Place,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

with a tentative\ndate for May 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There being no\nfurther business, the meeting adjourned at 8:00 pm. on a motion by Eric Penney.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
