RMC Work Party May 2017

For three days in May, 12 members worked on the Heritage Club’s Railway Mail Car exhibit at the West Coast Heritage Club in Squamish.Twice a year ,members travel to Squamish to maintain and improve the RMC that the club restored in 2000.This trip, the exterior of the train was washed and paint was touched up as well as cleaning and painting the roof. The interior was completely cleaned and exhibits were polished and new displays added.3 new show cases were installed and new exhibits put in. Lighting was improved and several members worked on photos and records preparing plaques to display ,describing various exhibits.
It was a busy time, but the Railway car museum is looking bright and clean in time for the Thomas, the Tank event later in May.Other members will travel to Squamish for the Thomas event, helping young children write a letter to Thomas or one of his friends and deposit it into the Thomas sortation case.A group of volunteer members will reply to each letter following the 6 day event. This program was initiated by Van Fraser modelled on the Santa Letter writing program. Thanks to all the volunteers!
