Postal Employees 25 Year Club
(A Council of the Terra Nova Chapter Heritage Club)
Minutes of meeting held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Blackmarsh Rd. on September 27, 2017. The meeting came to order at 7:35pm and the minutes of the previous meeting were adopted on a motion by Don Garland and seconded by Joe Mackey.

A moment of silence was held in their honour and our condolences go out to all those concerned.
Donna Legrow, Bob Snow, and Jim Bishop. We wish them all well in their retirement.
In the absence of the treasurer, the report was read by Eric Howlett. The report was adopted on a motion by Eric and seconded by Len Carroll.
Eldred Holmes thanked Adrian Angel and his team of volunteers for a great job with the Janeway Telethon. He also noted that the Club had received a thank-you note from the staff at the Janeway on behalf of their kids.
El informed the meeting that he was elected to the position of National First Vice-President of the Heritage Club at the recent AGM.
Bob Conway was the winner of the Canada Post Santa Letter Campaign draw. The prize was $50.
El explained that changes have been made by Great West Life to the processing of claims previously paid direct to the service provider. See attached.
El also stated that Goodlife Fitness is offering Heritage Club Members up to 50% discount on membership. See attached.
The new Heritage Club Scholarship program for paid-up members’ families will be offering a total of three awards each year, of $1000 for those who will be first-year students at university or $500 for those at colleges, etc. Members must be paid up for two years by June 28, 2018 for their dependants to qualify.

Our annual Dinner and Dance is scheduled for Saturday, December 16th at the Elks Club, Carpasian Road. Music by Metro Music. Save the date!
The meeting was informed that the cost of renting our meeting room at Branch 1 Legion has been increased from a flat $25 fee per month to $50 per month plus tax. Discussion followed. Vice President Ralph Wells informed the meeting that he had spoken to the Pleasantville Branch 56 and was told we could have our meetings there at no cost. Bob Thomson asked if he could speak to his friend at Branch 1 to see if they would consider leaving the rate at $25. He is to report back to the executive.
The meeting adjourned at 8:05 pm on a motion by Don Garland.
Our next meeting will be held at the Golden Phoenix on Kenmount Road at 6:30pm on THURSDAY, OCTOBER 26, 2017. Cost per member is $15 and dues can also be paid at that time.
