Golden Sheaf Spring Newsletter 2019


Spring has sprung around this corner and plans for a very eventful year is in the works is in the making. N the but we need your support to make it happen. This letter is sent out to all our 480 happen. This letter is rmembers (whether you have paid your annual dues or not) with hopes that news of our planned activities and e planned activities and events can gain your interest and participation. We are very proud of our accomplish proud of the accomplishments in this Chapter and hope you will hop on board and be part of our future part of our fun and successful ventures as we celebrate our 30th Anniversary.

Here is a report of what has transpired so far this year.

Santa’s Elves: Our area coordinator Patty Konanz sends her many thanks to our 7 helpers from this Chapter who replied to 4,035 letters.

Salvation Army: sent sincere thanks to the 12 members who manned the kettles at Southland Mall on December 15.

Annual Meeting: On February 2, 36 members enjoyed a scrumptious catered roast beef dinner, then settled in for reports and discussions of 2018 activities. Elections then took place. 1st and 2nd Vice-President positions remains vacant. Mervin Palka remains 3ndVice-President, and Betty Jackson remains as our Secretary.

Coffee Socials have resumed: February 28th we had two very interesting speakers from Regina Lifelong Center. April 25 we will have a speaker from the Canadian Red Cross.

Regina Floral Conservatory: Great hospitality was again given to us on March 28, as we enjoyed camaraderie and refreshments amidst a beautiful Spring and Easter array of flowers in very peaceful surroundings. During the morning a presentation of $500 was also given to our charity group St. Paul’s Cathedral Luncheon Program. Thank you to Joe and Florence Manz our Coordinators.

Annual Chapter Banquet: An exciting evening on May 4 is planned by coordinator George Totten as we return to St. Athanasius Hall, 55 McMurchy Ave. Regina. With the church front door locked you must enter off the parking lot. Parking is also available in the Huda Teachers lot, south of the Church’s parking lot. You are guaranteed a delicious meal, fun entertainment, raffles, 50/50 draw, camaraderie, and fellowship as we celebrate the Heritage Club 30th Anniversary. Some new members attending will be given a gift as they are introduced into our Chapter.

Please take notice of the enclosed information and register now. Deadline is April 25, 2019.

Nov. 30- Christmas Party/Fundraiser 2-5 pm. – St. Cecilia’s Hall – 5020 7th Ave. Regina SK.

Noteworthy News: (since our January Newsletter).

Our heartfelt Condolences are extended to Joyce Famulak, on her husband’s passing away and Marie Jacobson on the loss of our member and her husband Don Jacobson. .

Congratulations to Calvin Besplug on his recent retirement.

Membership Dues: Have you forgotten to send in your $15 for this year? Many of you have. At present our 2019 Paid membership only stands at 143. The National Office seed–money is very helpful, but this Chapter needs your financial and personal support in order to keep us as active as we are. Once a year, it is compulsory that every member on our list gets a newsletter to expand interest in what we have and plan to do towards fulfilling our mission. Don’t be left out, as only these active (meaning paid-up) members will continue to be apprised of upcoming events and activities along with discounts to Travel and Health Insurance, Home Insurance, Choice Hotels,and also GoodLife fitness membership, through our communications. Your finances and, if possible, your presence, will help keep up our reputation as we strive to uphold our Heritage Club motto: People helping People. If you haven’t done so yet, please send in your cheque (payable to the Golden Sheaf Chapter), to our recording Secretary Betty Jackson at 7054 Wascana Cove Dr. Regina SK S4V 3E9 .

Have you moved? It is important to keep our data base up to date. Please report address changes to your President or Secretary. Too many communications from our Chapter and also National Office are being returned marked “moved address unknown”.
